The Great Beginning of Summer

Hey Writers!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, reading some good books and writing some good stories. I'm working on a big project now but I just wanted to post a little poem I did for the "Fantasy Writer's League" that was slowly growing near the end of the year is LAS.

Wood Kingdom

I remember the long ride,
the anxiousness of being the birthday boy,
and the special feeling that came along with it.

I remember the smell,
the man-made wood jungle,
and the air conditioning.

I remember being young and innocent,
The scars of growing up still few,
And I remember the cake, vanilla of course.

I remember when Clinton went into office,
Even at the scowling of my father,
And how I wished for Bill to win.

I remember the boat,
The castle and the fire truck,
And how the wood sets never changed.

I remember the treasure hunt,
The countless birthday parties,
And that shirt that barely fits that I have to this day.

And the friends now are gone,
The wood smell still comes and goes but still,
I remember Wood Kingdom.

I like this. Good job Nick! The repeat of the phrase I remember is nice. Are you writing about an actual place?
